“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”-Steve Jobs

Good things are happening at Shared Electric! We can’t be excited enough to welcome back our two prodigious team members Abhit Patil and Shaaz Ahmed.

These two young, soon-to-be graduates of Christ University, Bangalore have never failed to surprise us in our year-long association with them. It all began in March 2015 when we were looking for interns to work on an electronics hardware product in the solar energy domain in India. Shaaz and Abhit quickly understood their project, got to work right away and exceeded our expectations in their innovative, out of the box approaches to tackle the problems at hand.

Following this project, their drive for constantly learning and doing things motivated them to take up part-time work with us. During this time, they juggled their study demands from the university and work commitments from us. Even with this, they played a very significant role in executing and building the Solar Family products and offerings from Shared Electric, in particular SolarFamily.Org.

After a brief hiatus while completing their final year exams, we are delighted to welcome home Shaaz and Abhit to join us full-time at Shared Electric.

Shaaz joins us as a  UI/UX DesignerShaaz & Full-stack Developer, helping us build them pretty and super functional interfaces. His interests are in data visualization and interpretation, design thinking, agile methodology and physics. His role with us will involve building complex yet reusable and engaging graphs and graphical interfaces using D3.js and AngularJS while working on the backend with PHP-Laravel.

When not working, Shaaz loves to read books and expand the horizons of his knowledge, also loves discussing about the books he reads with us. He used to play cricket at under-19 state level in India: was even a well-regarded fast bowler at some point. He is a very good speaker on stage and has been a reluctant-master of ceremonies at many events at his college. 🙂 One of his favorite quotes:

“Grown-ups love figures… When you tell them you’ve made a new friend they never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you “What does his voice sound like? What games does he love best? Does he collect butterflies? ” Instead they demand “How old is he? How much does he weigh? How much money does his father make? ” Only from these figures do they think they have learned anything about him.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, ‘The Little Prince’

Abhit

Abhit joins us as a Data Analyst & Software Developer, helping us make sense of the enormous amounts of data Shared Electric will be working with. His interests are in data analysis, machine learning, electronics design, statistics,  programming and philosophy. His role with us will involve processing and analysis of data: drawing meaningful insights from seemingly uninteresting large datasets and understanding & working intensely with mathematical learning and prediction models.

When not busy working, Abhit has a passion for playing racquet sports. Very recently, we found out he is very good in golf and was at some point considering that as a professional career. 🙂 He also enjoys reading thought-provoking books and going on roadtrips with friends. Here is one of his favorite quotes:

“For most gulls it was not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight.” -Richard Bach, ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’

We welcome both Shaaz and Abhit and wish them a very good start. Looking forward to more challenging and surely exciting days ahead with them!
